The Mother of Thousands (KALANCHOE) for the 2010 SEASON

Although best known & loved for its numerous "Mother of Thousands"/"Life Plant" members with plantlet proliferations, this easily grown genus offers a considerable array of foliage & flowering wonders--especially as most bloom extravagantly mid-winter when we most need color. Kids & collectors both find treasures in the bizarre asexual plantlets, in the furry Panda group or waxed or flour-dusted cookie-cutter foliage, in hooked stringbean leaves, cascading stems, or in rare and beautiful variegations (several of which have originated at the Glasshouse Works. Our KALANCHOE COLLECTION includes 10 plants of distinct flower colors, leaf designs, and growth habits. As the makeup of these bargin introduction groups changes almost weekly, we cannot entertain requests for particular individual species or clones to be included. If you want a particular Kalanchoe, please order it individually with its stock number.

99684 KALANCHOE COLLECTION: PROLIFERATORS A Jump start group emphasizing types forming plantlets on the leaf edges or upon the flowering heads--thus known as "Mother of Thousands" and "Life Plants" appealing strongly to all children, even those in their fifties. These Madagascar natives are the most easily grown Kalanchoes--and are offered here at a bargin basement price. These will be our choice. 5 plants @ $10.00

99199 KALANCHOE COLLECTION: A good starter kit for several of those eternally popular "Mother of Thousands" kit & kin; for the kid in all of us, as well as an introduction to the range of bold and colorful, or furry, or dusted, or waxed, and even variegated foliaged species and hybrids, with at least one member of this group famous for a showy display of winter blossoms. We have sent so many of these collections to customers in California and Texas over the years that we suspect that certain counties there might now seem to be a piece of Madagascar. 10 plants, our choice @ $25.00

60921 KALANCHOE ARBORESCENS CRA GH PRICE: $ 6.75 Erect, perpendicularly branched slim woody stems punctuated by small succulent leaves and (with maturity) mauve pink winter flowers. The small dark green succulent paddle leaves stud the dividing erect woody stems as a miniature tree-like woody trunk gradually develops. Distinct and handsome (eventually reaching considerable dimensions, altho the leaves remain small), demanding only good light, adequate moisture and a shallow bonsai pot to make a statement on the succulent bonsai table.
60381 KALANCHOE BE-HAROTII [HYB] CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Beechleaf Feltbush" believed to be a hybrid originating with Ed Hummel from whom this clone derives close to thirty years ago. Tightly stacked succulent gray-furred leaves on stubby, slowly branched gray furred stems; very attractive if given adequate light saturation., eventually forming a low wide felted mound. Much ignored by writers, but quite wonderful.
60374 KALANCHOE BEAUVERDII HYBRID CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Gray green noodle leaves in rigid opposite pairs with ridged tips producing adventituous plantlets, on scrambling wiry stems. Clusters of pendant glossy olive calyx bells, each with shiny salmon-pink petals with violet-speckled rims--quite a midwinter show. (Probably constitutes a distinct species as yet unidentified for us.)
60373 KALANCHOE BEAUVERDII SCANDENS CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "False Hoya" The wiry stems and blackish-green narrow curved leaves are Hoya mimics--but the adventituous plantlets on the leaf tips and the nodding maroon-dotted flask flowers strongly indicate the true identity. From Madagascar, where the hooked leaves help in the scramble through the brush and thornshrubs to display the showy clusters of blossoms to potential pollenizers...always a favorite of kids and luckily, only one swathe of lawn need be mowed in order to earn enough to afford this wonderment. Certainly a statement when trained on open wire topiary frames.

The variety of Kalanchoe beharensis types is truly remarkable. Browse our offerings below!

60375 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS BABY'S BOTTOM CRA HP TGH $ 15.00 OFTEN OF LIMITED AVAILABILITY Thick glaucous smooth small leaves with very ornate crenate and fingered edges furled down to form a naked fist--can be a challenge to grow outside greenhouse conditions. Most unique member of a diverse set of variations within one species.

60376KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS FANG CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Ruth Crane's remarkable clone with multiple large "fang" projections covering the underleaf of the heavily pelted, triangular leaves. Sensational "Stalactite Plant" easily grown in warm, bright spot. Possibly a `Roseleaf' sport--give very bright light to encourage the formation of masses of monstrose fangs.

60879 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS NAPOLEON'S HAT CRAS HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 Heavy rigid notchless triangular leaves with dusky rough felt surfaces. Enormous given space & time. This easily grown felted cupleaved beauty is shamelessly showy when added to a mixed summer container.

61043 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS PANAMENSIS CRA HP TGH PRICE: $12.00 Deeply lobed leaves furl down scimitar style displaying a rich rusty gold pelting--absolutely must have full sun to properly form. Larger statured than 'minima.' Very very slow growth rate. We have added extra stock plants of this handsome dwarf form to cover the increasing demand for this--we propagate from stem/trunk tip cuttings as leaf cuts do not come true to form but typically revert to the massive species form.

60379 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS ROSELEAF CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Stout stems carry four ranks of triangular, cupped leaves-- pelted chocolate pink above, gray below--so that if observed from above a cross is seen. Probably a Hummel hybrid of K. beharensis x pilosa, according to collectors; however we do not know of anyone successfully duplicating this cross.

60380 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS SUBNUDA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Mature cupped, shallowly lobed leaves are pearly smooth and nearly hairless & glabrous gray-green. This is a arrestingly beautiful piece of sculpture very successful in a sunny plantroom, but quite popular in outdoor plantings, even in seasonal mixed containers in the northern climes. Unusual striking subspecies from Southern Madagascar. Although rare and impressive, this "Naked Feltleaf" (so contradictory) is easily grown--and especially valuable to collectors allergic to pelted felted foliage, especially those restricted to Sphynx cats.

60382 KALANCHOE BEHARENSIS VARIEGATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Rhombic scalloped dense short leaves (suggesting a 'Roseleaf' affinity) with lemon yellow to gold striations, mostly in the center of these thick pelted leaves. Rare. Even very rare. We currently have sufficient stock to offer this amazingly sought after, dramatic clone--but may need lead time to finish any current crop. If you need this yesterday, please do not order. If you are a serious collector, we will make sure you will be able to add this to your variegated hoard.

60934 KALANCHOE BENTIISOMALICA CRA CGH PRICE: $ 12.00 LIMITED AVAILABILITY Stout stems ranked with fleshy blunt rounded gray-green leaves; very deliberate growth rate. Please confirm; often in short supply.

68480 KALANCHOE BOSSFELDIANA CITRINA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Wide clumping dark rubbery foliage of large scalloped leaves create a perfect backdrop for the extravagantly produced showy clusters of upfacing golden yellow blossoms opening for an extended "Golden Flaming Katie" winter show. Not the newest of the endless commercial (often patented) offerings, but the old proven heirloom which willing blooms profusely every winter without fail.

56946 KALANCHOE BOSSFELDIANA REALLY RED CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 "Dwarf Flaming Katie" Cute piles of very small purple tinted scalloped leaves on tiny tumbling stems over which appear clusters of scarlet blossoms mid winter. Far too cute for some collectors of macho succulents! After growing this for years, we can report that it has never thrown a larger scaled growth--always way petite, always a smaller stature than 'Maroon Krinkle.'

61206 KALANCHOE BOSSFELDIANA STAINED GLASS CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.00Ken Frieling's selection of this red flowered species; each fleshy crennate leaf has a flashy central yellow lime flamed medallion. Quite beautiful as a foliage plant; quite breathtaking when in flower mid-winter flaunting its red "Flaming Katie" blossom clusters over the variegated foliage.
60748 KALANCHOE BOSSFELDIANA [HYB] CREAMED SCALLOPS CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Low mounding beauty: wide pale gray-green fleshy leaves with crenulate edges broadly margined white which do perfectly accent the seasonal fire engine red clusters of upfacing flowers. Flashy. Astoundingly easy to grow a handsome specimen of this hard to locate variegated version of the common blooming Kalanchoe--the green leaved version which you are most likely to find at your local grocery store cannot compete with this looker.

61051 KALANCHOE BOSSFELDIANA MAROON KRINKLE CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.50 Maroon green paired leaves with extremely undulant margins. In very bright light will become coppery carmine --very odd with the brick orange blossoms mid winter! Distinctly more richly colored and smaller statured than the typical species and hybrid types. If you love the look of but find it problematic to grow the ruffled petticoat leaved Echeveria, try this charmer.
60386 KALANCHOE DAIGREMONTIANA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.25 "Life Plant" or "Mother of Thousands" Plantlets form on the crenulated margins of the liver-green triangular fleshy leaves, spotted reddish-brown; heads of pendant pinkish midwinter blossoms gradually fade to a delicate gray-violet hue. Formerly in the genus Bryophyllum, appropriate as the Latin translates to "sprouting leaves." SW Madagascar native of easy culture if given sufficient light. This may be as common as dirt (according to one customer who obviously has lost her inner child), yet every kid loves this handsome dame. And an important herbal-medicinal postscript: For those who love their turtles--remember that little tortoises with runny noses should try this as a cure.

61036 KALANCHOE DAIGREMONTIANA JAWS OF LIFE CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Triangular paired fleshy gator jaw leaves sprout endless tiny plantlets along the crenulated rims. Possibly a hybrid, currently considered a sport (maybe a seperate species or variety). If this stops any tortoise's runny nose problems, then is is probably a sport.

60389 KALANCHOE FEDTSCHENKOI CRA HP CGH PRICE: $3.50 "Purple Scallops" Amethyst, flour-dusted scalloped leaves are margined purple with brownish notches producing adventitious buds in sufficient light and humidity; elegant terminal clusters of pendant khaki-pink flowers appearing late winter. Madagascar native. Very attractive; easily grown given good light. Lovely coloration if grown in direct sun.

56945 KALANCHOE FEDTSECHENKOI IVORY HALO CRA TGH HP PRICE: $ 8.75 Stunning very wide ivory white margins on the dramatically scalloped leaves, with umber toned notches--so extremely variegated that this clone needs a greenhouse more than an indoor house to survive; clusters of dusky pink pendulous flowers in winter.

60390 KALANCHOE FEDTSCHENKOI MARGINATA CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Aurora Borealis Plant" Scalloped purplish leaves margined in bright ivory, toned pink in high light. Beautiful with the dangling clusters of mid-winter blossoms.

60391 KALANCHOE FEDTSCHENKOI VARIEGATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $4.75 "Rosy Dawn" to some of its admirers; "Creamed Scallops" to other growers: The central section of the crenate leaves are arrestingly streaked and mottled with rich yellow-cream and aqua tones. Unusual clone, yet still produces showy khaki-pink heads of dangling blossoms on short terminal spikes late winter. Unusual variegation for the Kalanchoe tribe.

61046 KALANCHOE FIGUEREIDOI CRAS TGH HP PRICE: $ 7.00 Small statured "Jade Jewel"; seriously beautiful with wide silver gray fleshy dark banded jade leaves with crenate margins, highlighted with pale toned midvein. Usually blooming mid-winter, the inflorescence is forked many times to hold a mist of small pale green & pink flowers tipped scarlet. Rarely offered low clumping species; enchantingly beautiful, jewel like. A continued top ten favorite of those gardening under lights.

60392 KALANCHOE GASTONIS-BONNIERI CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Handsome large wide coppery "Donkey Ears" leaves inlaid with purple heiroglyphics and liberally dusted with silver on very short central trunks--striking basket subject with masses of midwinter blossoms of delicate pink emerging from the bell like calyx cups. Unique species needing saturated (but never burning) light to form the most silvery flour dusted surface; needs adequate moisture to reach its potentially impressive proportions--but generally a more horizontal than vertical habit.

60731 KALANCHOE GLAUCESCENS FRIELING'S SENSATION CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.75 This salmon flowered clone has fleshy scalloped/crenate leaves strikingly margined with a white band developing pinkish tints in high light. This impressively variegated sport was found and selected, then reselected by Ken Frieling here at the Glasshouse Works--a quite distinct sport of a not at all unusual species which is a widely found native of Africa, of India, & even Brazil. Of easy culture, only demanding excellent light saturation to produce the upright modestly scaled candelabra clusters of citris yellow flowers mid-winter.

68490 KALANCHOE GNOME SLIPPERS [MANGANII X PORPHYROCALYX] CRA TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.75 Short statured stems thickly covered with elaborate rubbery deeply crennate leaves and topped mid-winter with wide clusters of inflorescenceorescenceated nodding slipper flowers of pale rose tipped gooseberry green. A charmer on any windowsill with possible K. petitana origins. We suspect various names to proliferate once this hits the broader marketplace, especially as the recently past administration may not recognize the existence of gnomes even though gnomes probably exist outside any current evolutionary theories. (And may be the necessary proof of creationism.)

60393 KALANCHOE HILDEBRANDTII CRA HP TGH PRICE: $5.25"Silver Teaspoons" perfect description of the platinum hair pelting the oval leaves with narrow petioles; these remarkable leaves are rigidly ranked on slim extremely erect stems (thus lending this plant new status as a unique but successful rigidly at attention topiary standard). A curiously similar habit to that of Kalanchoe peltata, whose similarly shaped rigid leaves are, of course, NOT pelted. In the West Coast wholesale trade this Madagascar native seems usually offered as K. orgyalis `Silver' (but orgyalis is a much larger statured, less symmetrically upright growing, not given to rigid right angles of growth, and a more tannish toned plant).

60394 KALANCHOE HOUGHTONII CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 2.75 Also K. poincarei, the famous "Good Luck Plant" A hybrid "Life Plant" of daigremontiana x tubiflora with tan-pink channeled slim leaves (distinctly wider and flatter than tubiflora) with purple designs and toothed margins producing many adventitious plantlets. Easy favorite with very showy rigid umbles of down turned blossoms mid-winter. Certainly the easiest "Life Plant" to grow; indeed, when happy with its environment, it will soon be stem deep in a forest of its own progeny.

60983 KALANCHOE HOUGHTONII PINK TEETH [VARIEGATE] CRA TGH PRICE: $ 17.50 The succulent leaves have pink & silver splashed along the edges & sometimes the midrib; variegation disappears when in extended extremely warm conditions. Be prepared: if shipped during warmer times of the year, little pink will be visible. After considerable trial and error with shipping this exotic, we now prefer to send strong unrooted cuts in dry perlite to avoide any damage on the trip to you. Originally shared with us by Patti Lee. If you do not have a sunny greenhouse, this can be difficult, very difficult indeed.

60931 KALANCHOE HUMILIS CGH TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Pairs of pale marble green leaves slightly mottled with "Baby Pinwiper" patterns; fleshy foliage blushed pink in high light conditions with rose heiroglyphs on the undersides. Originally offered as K. sp. HBG 'Baby Pinwiper," this produces tostled clusters of giant elongated winter blossoms.

60704 KALANCHOE INTEGRA CRENATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75 A variety of the "Flame Palm" native from E. Africa on to Malaysia with bright yellow flowers over the glabrous fleshy crenate foliage on characteristically tumbling stems. Seedlings from Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

60396 KALANCHOE KEWENSIS [HYB] CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Harpoon Leaf Kalanchoe." Short erect stems armed with soft spindle-shaped coppery-green leaves with occasional side harpoon tooth (pinnatisect leaf!). Sometimes considered to be a hybrid of teretifolia x flammea, more recently as an unidentified wild collection. Very distinctive scculent sculpture, very modest in habit, worthy of a place in any collection of oddly shaped foliage.

60397 KALANCHOE LACINIATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 "Lace Leaf Kalanchoe" Overlapping ranks of stiff waxy leaves divided deeply like a lacy fern stuffed with sausage; head of shell-petaled flowers mid-winter. Very beautiful, yet seldom found available. Native to India, Africa, Yemen, Brazil and points between. Certainly considerably underutilized in dishgardens and succulent trough designs as is quite undemanding.

61009 KALANCHOE LAETIVIRENS BIG MOMMA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 1.75 Also known at Kalanchoe HBG 73004, from Huntington Botanic Gardens originally. Upright stout short trunks support thick upturned pearly surfaced fleshy leaves (so wide as to be nearly round in outline), each heavily ringed by a margin of cute baby plantlets--every kid needs one. Perhaps the most architecturally pleasing of this category as the foliage is both very compact and very heavily laden with offspring.

60401 KALANCHOE MANGINII CRA HP TGH PRICE: $5.25 "Flask Flower" Multitudes of wiry scandant stems punctuated with crisp green oval lvs and nodding salmon bellflowers shaped like flasks--fls of this clone not orange and green, as described by some--possibly K. x 'Tessa.'

60403 KALANCHOE MARMORATA CRA CGH HP PRICE: $4.75 Pinkish-green pruinose toothed wide leaves with rich mahogany- violet hieroglyphics splashed on the surface, thus known as the "Pinwiper Plant." Modest white flowers. Extremely similar to K. humilis until it blooms.

60404 KALANCHOE MILLOTII CRA HP CGH PRICE: $4.75 Erect branchlets ranked with rigidly held thick oval crenate leaves pelted with grayish-white hairs. Eventually topped with clusters of lime-yellow flowers, this Madagascar native with its curious grooved petioles holding thick leaves with a somewhat oakleaf lobed cookie cutter outline, is sometimes confused in the wholesale trade with the slightly cupped leaved 'Be-Hararotii' which has more a beachleaf toothed outline . Both are beautiful, easy to grow in strong light and ample heat, and shamefully overlooked by collectors.

61079 KALANCHOE MINIMA CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Nodding heads of nodding orange fls at Christmas over the attractive glaucous small jade nacre succulent foliage. Good in small hanging baskets; seems a tiny lovely version of the more well known larger statured K. fedtschenkoi. Often overlooked, but quite lovely intrepid grower.

60405 KALANCHOE MORTAGEI CRENATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 "Mother of Hundreds" Impressive ranks of giant fleshy, rubbery appearing thick up-turned elongated triangular leaves with doubly crenate margins and many large adventitious plantlets firmly held on the narrowing leaf tips; the closely stacked leaves (closely ranked on short stout stems) are impressive in baskets; red flowers emerge from the much more dramatically displayed peagreen bracts dangling from the wide candelabra inflorescence. Largest and probably most dramatic of those species with adventituous plantlets on the foliage.

60406 KALANCHOE NYIKAE CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.25 "Shovel Leaf" The opposite unnervingly pearly-blue peltate fleshy leaves are so sculptured that the basal end is up-turned to form a scoop; red rimmed in high light. Rosy green flowers impossible to accurately define. Difficult as tends to die out from the effort producing the inflorescence--be sure you have more propagated when you spy the bloom stalk being formed. Strikingly beautiful in structural form and in delicate color tones.

60407 KALANCHOE OBTUSA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.75 Attractive broad succulent leaves on very short stems beautifully accent and frame the hemispheres of upfacing brick-red flowers. Attractive compact bouquet from Tanzania. Marvelous tuffet outline gradually branching with time; certainly the most flower power for the foliar size and thus astoundingly popular both as an indoor windowsill potplant blooming midwinter when bright flowers are most needed, and as a petite compact greenhouse subject. Not to be confused with the taller stalked blossfeldiana crew with their smaller flower clusters. If you intend to order these in considerable numbers, please allow us some leadtime, as this is a deliberately paced grower.

60874 KALANCHOE ORGYALIS CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Distinctive Madagascar stocky shrub with thick spatulate leaves emerging russet, then hardening to a silver toned mahogany felt--and thus easily damaged by high humidity; yellow flowers seldom seen--astoundingly slow to grow when compared to most its kin. We currently have enough so that collectors will not have to "take a number" this season!

60408 KALANCHOE PELTATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.00 Slim erect stems rigidly hold leaves resembling an army of (un-pelted!) tiny garden spades; topped by pink bellflowers when mature. Easy slow growing houseplant--the dependable angular plain sister of the showy flashy hildebrandii.

60410 KALANCHOE PINNATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.50 "Air Plant" or "Miracle Leaf" Most famous "Bryophyllum" for the notched leaves produce clinging adventitious plantlets along their margins even when wrenched from the stout stems and pinned to a curtain. (And if you remember those ads and drawings in the Sunday paper, you have dated yourself considerably.) Native to an astounding range geographically--Americas, Australia, Asia, Africa, etc.--but probably originated in Madagascar. Forms a handsome upright succulent subshrub with curious winter flowers (clusters of hanging tubular blossoms with showy inflorescence calyx streaked red); a basic houseplant from Victorian times, still in demand today by kids of all ages. And newly popular as a tropical herb with rumored various health benefits.

60409 KALANCHOE PROLIFERA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $4.75 "Blooming Boxes" Maroon-rimmed stout rubbery fishbone leaves rigidly ranked on handsome erect trunks; terminal inflorescence of showy yellow flowers, each peeping from a bizarre dangling four-sided box-like bract, followed by a dazzling "proliferation" of plantlets. Madagascar native with the "Byrophyllum" urge--but adventituous plantlets form more typically on the ripe inflorescence rather than on the ridged edges of the succulent leaves ( this species must have seen a slide show of asexual Agaves somewhere along the line). Rather curiously, this rubbery, extremely handsome, sculpture has become quite popular as an addition to summertime urns as an accent plant in recent years. If planted directly in your greenhouse's floor, this gentle giant can easily top eight feet by the time its enormous candelabra of blossoms crowns the erect succulent trunk. It also seems quite content in a small clay pot on your windowsill.

60411 KALANCHOE PUMILA CRA CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 "Flour Dust Plant" Purple-hued notched flat leaves are dusted in silvery-white; modest small Madagascar native with violet urn-shaped pink hued flowers in refined panicles. Compact small habit--must have very high light to maintain the bright silvery tones; needs good air movement to encourage the flour dustings so admired by its fans. Indeed, this startling yet modestly proportioned charmer is easier to grow on a sunny windowsill than in the more humid greenhouse.

60412 KALANCHOE PUMILA RUBRA (HORT) CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.00 Rich red-toned scalloped pelted leaves; rosy flower clusters. Possibly a distinct unusually robust species as yet undescribed. Excellent small tumbling mound of thick colorful foliage maintaining a good color on windowsills; excellent in a small hanging basket or as a groundcover for taller leggy succulents. Recently discovered by the summertime "tropicals outdoors" in crowd who use this in urns and windowboxes with abandon.

60415 KALANCHOE ROSEI SEYRIGI CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Erect gray stems hold tripartite bluish-gray leaves with stiff serrulated edges; large pink tubular flowers.

60889 KALANCHOE ROTUNDIFOLIA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.75 Wide fleshy lvd "Nentabos" from Africa with bright orangy lemon blossoms mid-winter at the tips of the curious rubbery stems. Sometimes overlooked; but most dependable with dark attractive rubbery foliage and cute blossoms.

60686 KALANCHOE SEXANGULARIS CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75 Seedling from a collection from the Zimbabwe grasslands with wide gray-toned leaves in four ranks. Thick club heads of ripe peach flowers with peach pit bracts.

60417 KALANCHOE SYNSEPALA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 "Cup Kalanchoe." or "Walking Kalanchoe" Cupped oval to fingered leaves held close to short trunk; undulating toothed leaves accented by odd runners from the leaf axil tipped with plantlets. Haired tubular flowers. We only get one crop of these per year, so best to check on availability before ordering this most dramatic, most emphatic creature. Sometimes ordered far beyond our production, so please check for availability before ordering.

Kalanchoe thyrsiflora in different locations and sun conditions

60419 KALANCHOE THYRSIFLORA CRA CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 "Flap Jacks" or "Oyster Plant" common names reflect the considerable popularity of this South African species with flat oval diagonally-placed leaves with an arresting silvery effect from white mealy surfaces, & with a distinct red rim appearing when grown in high light. A paniculate inflorescence with yellow flowers eventually arises from the paddle like foliage. Needs full sun to perform well. And yes, the modest sized silver scrufted creatures you receive from us can become exactly the same creature as the purplish bronze sculptures you sometimes find available at the box stores late spring, the latter having been grown in large containers outdoors in very cool (but not freezing) Florida winter temperatures.

Kalanchoe thyrsiflora Variegata--New to Horticulture

56947 KALANCHOE THYRSIFLORA FANTASTIC [VARIEGATA] SOL TGH CGH HP PRICE: $ 27.50 This is indeed a truely 'Fantastic' new selection from Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery with brilliant showy variegation--a very collectable "Silver Dollar" plant indeed! This is a great new form of the very popular "Oyster Plant." Big drama just became high drama with brilliantly margined flapjack succulent foliage.

60423 KALANCHOE TOMENTOSA EUROPEAN CLONE CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.25 Dense wider "Panda Plant" leaves than the typical species form with very bright white pelting and blackish toned toothed tips as long as given very bright light and good air movement. Best contrast of any selection we have trialed , but absolutely needs full sun and reliable air movement to achieve its potential.

60421 KALANCHOE TOMENTOSA CHOCOLATE SOLDIER ARAC HH PRICE: $ 7.50 Field collection in Madagascar: dimunitive variety with the entire leaf chocolate-umber tipped black--tends to send up many small inflorescences with pelted bracts.

60425 KALANCHOE TOMENTOSA GOLDEN GIRL CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.50 Small concave leaves vary from sienna to butter tones; unusual clone of the "Panda Plant" requiring high light.

60426 KALANCHOE TOMENTOSA TOMENTOSA [SUPERFUZZY] CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 8.75 Large statured, somewhat leggy plant with extremely long white-haired leaves lacking dark tipping. Considered by some to be the true species type; certainly unique--but full sun and very low levels of humidity are imperative for success. Usually sent as an unrooted cutting in dry perlite or dry moss in an attempt to avoid shattered leaves.

60427 KALANCHOE TUBIFLORA [DELAGOENSIS] CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 2.75 "Hollywood Palm" or "Chandelier Plant" Erect pinkish stems thickly hung with pendant cylindric dark leaves spotted reddish brown and emerald and tipped with notches nurturing bundles of plantlets; showy clusters of pale red bellflowers pendant mid winter from elaborate terminal inflorescence. Madagascar native. The second photo is not good, but it shows the flowers.

60429 KALANCHOE VELUTINA CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 3.50 Thick furred arched or creeping, sprouting stems shingled with wide fleshy rich green oval plush leaves slightly toothed; yellow flowers fade to salmon. Easy popular indoor plant, great for kids. Certainly the teddy bear of the Kalanchoe tribe.
